Proof Test
Introduction
The purpose of the proof test is to prove the safety instrumented system (sensor, logic solver and final element), operates as per the safety requirements specification and to identify any dangerous undetected failures. Results from the proof tests should always be recorded and reviewed by a competent person to look for trends in failures and faults.
Application
During the design and engineering phase of the safety lifecycle the requirement of proof testing should be considered to enable safe on-site testing of the SIF.
Similar to validation the purpose of the Proof Test is to ensure that the SIF continues to operate as defined in the safety requirements specification throughout the lifecycle.
Services
ProSalus has assisted clients in developing Proof Test procedures, which meet the requirements identified in the equipment safety manuals, IEC 61511 and best engineering guidance and practice.
